Asif Ibrahim has been re-elected President and Haider Ahmed Khan, FCA elected Senior Vice-President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) for the year 2012. The new Board of Directors took over charge at the 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of DCCI held at its auditorium Tuesday.
The newly elected members of the Board of Directors for this term are Abul Hossain, Osama Taseer, Md Iftekharuddin (Naushad), Kh. Shahidul Islam and Hossain A Sikder.
Mr Asif was born in Dhaka in a respectable Muslim family in 1965. He received his formal education from the University of Delhi (India) and the University of North Texas (USA). He is currently the Vice-Chairman of Newage Group of Industries, a business house involved mainly in manufacturing and exporting ready-made garments, textiles, plastic products and information technology.
Mr Asif previously served the executive committee of France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB) and Bangladesh Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI). He is also the former Chairman of the research cell of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). He was recognised by the commerce ministry as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) in 2007 for his company's performance in Woven RMG export.
Mr Haider was born in 1955 in a respectable Muslim family and completed his masters in Finance. He is the partner of Ahmed Khan & Co, Chartered Accountants and fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh. He is also the Chairman of MM Agro Enterprise Ltd and Director of Flower Fashions Ltd and Seasons Dresses Ltd. He was the Director of DCCI in 2006-2008 terms.
