Audit objections involve Tk 6.15tn

June 28, 2015 00:00:00

Finance Minister AMA Muhith said on Saturday the number of audit objections against 55 ministries and divisions stood at 853,314 and they involved Tk 6.15 trillion (615,606 crore), reports UNB.

The minister revealed such information in Parliament while responding to a tabled starred question from independent MP Haji Mohammad Salim (Dhaka-7).

He said the reasons behind the audit objections were non-reply to the audit objections by the executive authorities, reply without authentic information and documents and lack of adequate manpower in the Audit Department.

The minister said the audit objection money is usually realised from the relevant persons and organisations.

He mentioned the government directives given from time to time in this connection.

These directives include realising the money by following different laws and government rules, filing cases, if necessary, and enforcing 'The Public Demands Recovery Act, 1913'.

Besides, the finance minister said a process was underway to hold bilateral or tripartite meetings to recover the money through discussions.
