Aziz Ahmed new Army chief

The government has appointed Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed as the new chief of Bangladesh Army, reports UNB.

The Ministry of Defence issued a notice in this regard on Monday.

He will be promoted as a General. He will take over the charge as Army Chief on June 25 for the next three years, it said.

Aziz Ahmed will replace General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq.

Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed is currently serving as the Quartermaster General of Bangladesh Army.

As a major general, Aziz Ahmed previously performed as director general of Border Guard Bangladesh, and the GOC of 33 Infantry Division stationed in Cumilla Cantonment.
