No recognised major political party is agreed to sit for dialogue with the Election Commission (EC) unless the ban on indoor politics is lifted, said BNP leader Hannan Shah on Thursday, reports UNB.
"No major political party that is recognised by the people is agreed to discuss the matter (draft reform of concerned electoral laws) with the Election Commission if the ban on indoor politics is not lifted," he told reporters at his Baridhara residence.
Brigadier Shah, adviser to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is virtually interned in her residence amid a political purge in the interim period, made a strong plea for polls to elect people's representatives to govern the country.
"The countrymen want the country to be run by representatives elected by them as soon as possible," he said.
