Banks remain open today

All commercial banks remained open Friday to facilitate government transactions, including revenue collection at the fag end of the current fiscal year.
Clearing houses at different offices and related departments of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) also remained open to facilitate the banking activities.
As per instructions of the BB, the commercial banks will also remain open today (Saturday), the last day of the fiscal 2006-07. However, saving certificates worth Tk 687,000 were cashed in at different commercial banks Friday.
On the other hand, more than Tk 3.10 million (31.04 lakh) was deposited to the government account under different heads against withdrawal of Tk 650,000.
