BB fixes bankers' minimum salary

The Bangladesh Bank (BB), for the first time, fixed a minimum salary-wage of Tk 28,000 for banks' entry-level assistant officers/trainee assistant officers during their probation period.

The central bank on Thursday issued a circular regarding the minimum salary in a move to lessen the wide gap in terms of salary between entry level and higher level officers.

The circular said after the probation period, the gross salary-wage of the entry-level officers would be Tk 39,000.

After implementing the new salary structure, the salary-wage of the officials, who have been working in the same position from the past, have to be raised proportionally.

The BB also directed that the starting salary for messengers, cleaners, security guards and support staff would be Tk 24,000.
