BB to get new dy governors soon

Bangladesh Bank (BB) will soon appoint new deputy governors as the high-ranking positions fell vacant with the retirement of three deputy governors. The three deputy governors -- Nazrul Huda, Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui and Murshid Kuli Khan -- went on retirement on December 29. "The central bank, meanwhile, completed the interview of 22 applicants who had applied for the BB deputy governor position," said a BB official preferring anonymity. The appointment process will be finalised in consultation with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and approval from the President, the official said. Earlier, a four-member committee, headed by noted economist and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, was formed. -- UNB
