The country's coronavirus tally reached 292,625 on Saturday, overtaking that of Pakistan, the Asian hotspot for Covid-19 infections, official data showed.

As a result, Bangladesh became the second worst-affected country after India in South Asia. In terms of active cases, the country with 113,151 Covid-19 patients also stood second in the eight-country economic bloc in the Indian Ocean region.
