CA invites tech tycoon Elon Musk to launch Starlink

FE REPORT | February 24, 2025 00:00:00

Bangladesh eyes cover-all speedy Starlink internet service as Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has invited new US government functionary and technology tycoon Elon Musk to launch the satellite.

In a letter to the top US businessman and Chief Executive Officer of SpaceX on February 19, the Chief Adviser told Musk his visit to Bangladesh would allow him to meet Bangladeshi young men and women who will be among the main beneficiaries of this leading technology, a spokesperson for the CA office said Sunday.

"Let us work together to deliver our mutual vision for a better future," the head of post-uprising government has said in the letter.

"Integrating Starlink's connectivity into Bangladesh's infrastructure will have transformational impact, particularly for Bangladesh's enterprising youth, rural and vulnerable women, and remote and underserved communities," the invitation letter reads.

The Chief Adviser asked his High Representative, Dr Khalilur Rahman, to coordinate closely with his SpaceX team to ensure completion of the necessary work to make Starlink ready for launch in Bangladesh within the next ninety working days.

Professor Yunus on February 13 held an extensive telephonic conversation with Musk, the founder of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, to explore future collaboration and to make further progress to introduce Starlink-satellite internet service in Bangladesh.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation. Starlink Mini is a compact, portable kit that can easily fit in a backpack, designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet on the go.
