BD sees highest 21 deaths in a day

The country recorded highest 21 deaths from dengue fever in a single day till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll from Dhaka stands at 17 in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, it said. With the new death figure, the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh rose to 618 this year, including 456 from Dhaka.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,352 patients got admitted to hospitals during the same period across the country, and 982 among them were from Dhaka.

The unremitting situation of the viral disease showed no sign of improvement as the numbers of deaths and infections keep rising.

Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country. Meanwhile, the total dengue cases rose to 127,694, including 59,592 from Dhaka.
