Bangladesh warmly welcomes the finalisation of peace agreement between the United States and Iran to end a world-upsetting war, expressing the hope that the deal will contribute to lasting peace, stability, and cooperation in the Middle East.

In a statement issued Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Bangladesh had consistently advocated de-escalation and peaceful resolution of tensions through dialogue and diplomacy.

"Bangladesh warmly welcomes the finalisation of the peace agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement reads.

The government also appreciates the efforts of all parties and facilitators involved in bringing the agreement to fruition, describing the development as a positive step toward reducing tensions in the region.

Bangladesh, which suffered human loss of life of several migrants apart from economic losses, hopes that the agreement would be implemented in good faith and would prove both durable and sustainable in the long term.

The statement reiterates Bangladesh's longstanding position that peace and stability in the resource-rich Middle East are essential not only for the region but also for global peace, security, and economic development.

"Bangladesh believes that peace and stability in the Middle East are vital for regional and global peace, security and development," the ministry says.

Dhaka further encourages all stakeholders to capitalize on the momentum generated by the agreement and address remaining issues through continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement.

The government also voices optimism that the accord would help restore regional calm, strengthen supply chains and promote greater economic cooperation and collaboration among countries in the region.

The peace agreement comes amid international efforts to ease tensions and foster stability in the Middle East, a region of significant strategic and economic importance.

Bangladesh, which maintains friendly relations with both the United States and Iran, has repeatedly emphasised diplomacy as the most effective path to resolving conflicts and ensuring sustainable peace.
