BDR on 'red alert' along border as BSF kills 3 Bangladeshis

PANCHAGARH, Nov 17 (UNB): BDR troops have been put on 'red alert' along the border in Tentulia upazila following Sunday's killing of three Bangladeshi civilians by a BSF man.
Sources said the BDR beefed up vigilance along the border reinforcing its troops to patrol the area.
They said a BSF member from Nayabari camp illegally walked into Bangladesh territory at about 10:05pm Monday and gunned down the three Bangladeshis, including a minor boy, at Moynakuri village in Shalbahan union.
BDR strongly denounced the incident and proposed the BSF to sit in a flag meeting.
The flag meeting between BDR and BSF was in progress till filing of the report at about 4pm.
Earlier report adds, Indian BSF crossed Madhipara border here Sunday night and opened indiscriminate fire, killing three people and injuring three others. Mostafa (55), Majeda Begum (25) and her 2-year-old child Mamun died on the spot. Shahidul, Sachna and Mintu wounded by BSF bullets were admitted to Tentulia health complex.
Salbahan UP chairman Mostafizur Rahman told UNB that a group of BSF troops from Nowabari outpost entered into Monlakuri village at about 10:30pm and opened fire on the villagers without any reason whatsoever. He said the villagers held a BSF man identified as RP Singh. He was beaten and later handed over to BDR jawans.
BDR confirmed illegal intrusion of BSF troops into the border village through Madhipara border near main pillar no. 435. But BDR could not confirm the confinement of the BSF soldier.
Panicked by the firing, the people of Mumartol and Moinakam villages took shelter at Kalandiganj High School.
Both BDR and BSF reinforced their presence along the border.
