BERC decision on gas dev fund soon

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) is likely to announce its decision within 3-4 days on the proposed gas development fund (GDF). "We're at the final stage of our decision making process. Hopefully, the commission will announce its decision within 3-4 days," BERC member Selim Mahmud told UNB. He, however, declined to disclose anything about the possible decision of the BERC. Complying with a BERC directive, the Petrobangla created the GDF from its additional income that came after the rise of gas price. The accumulative amount of the GDF is about Tk 9 billion. But the money remained unutilised because of a lack of concrete policy guidelines. — UNB
