Bhola-3 by-polls today

BHOLA, Apr 23 (BSS): By-polls of Bhola-3 constituency will be held today (Saturday).
Voters of the constituency comprising Lalmohan and Tazmuddin upazials are waiting to give their mandates through ballots.
The Election Commission (EC) has completed all preparations for holding the by-polls.
Election materials, including ballot boxes will reach the polling centres from this afternoon.
Security has been beefed up in the constituency for maintaining law and order situation. Police will be deployed in the polling centres.
Besides, the numbers of check post and patrols of both RAB and police have been increased.
On the other hand members of police and intelligence agencies have intensified their surveillance on the activities on movement of the contestants.
The local administrations through loud speakers publicity asked the central leaders of both the parties to stop all kinds of publicity and propaganda by Thursday midnight and leave the constituency.
The constituency comprising one municipality (pourasabha) and 15 union parishads has 234926 voters in all.
One thousand and nine hundred officers will conduct voting in 86 polling centers.
None of this election officers is the resident of the concerned constituency and as such it is expected that they would maintain strict neutrality.
At the same time, in each of 547 booths there will be polling agents of all candidates.
Director of RAB Lt Col Ziaul Hasan who has been supervising on overall law and order situation of Bhola-3 electoral constituency, told the news agency that a strong contingent of RAB had been alert round the clock to stop entry of any outsiders or any ill-attempt to disrupt peace during voting period.
Meanwhile, armed contingent of law enforcing agencies numbering 24 will be posted at each polling centres. But this number will be 27 for risky and sensitive voting centres.
Besides special intelligence squad, 12 video cameras and sufficient petrol teams of RAB will be kept on duty round the clock.
Another 35 officers of election commission will be in solitary observation in the polling centres during election hours.
Meanwhile, one Awami League worker who was injured after falling from truck on his way to attend a public rally of Nur Nabi Chowdhury Shawan Wednesday succumbed to his injuries on his way to Barisal. The victim was identified as Md Siraj (30) hailed from Kalma union.
19 other AL activists, who were injured in the same accident, were admitted to Lalmohan Hospital for treatment.
