NARAYANGANJ, May 9 (Agencies): Police came up with a big haul of drugs and weapons during a raid on a truck stand controlled by Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the seven-murder case, at Shimrail in Siddhirganj Friday afternoon.
A team of district police, led by police super Dr Khandaker Muhid Uddin, conducted the raid at the truck stand around 4:15pm, said police.
During the one and a half hours' drive, the law enforcers recovered over 22 daggers, three machetes, 2,824 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, a large number of Yaba tablets and nine bottles of foreign liquor.
However, no one was arrested during the drive.
Narayanganj City Corporation councillor Nur Hossain is also vice-president of Siddhirganj Thana unit of Awami League and president of the Thana chapter of an inter-district truck drivers' union.
He used to control the drug trade in the area from the truck stand, locals said.
Nur Hossain is the prime accused in the killing of seven people, including NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker.
Meanwhile, newly-appointed Commanding Officer of Rab-11 Lt Col Anwar Latif Khan took over Friday.
