Amid stray incidents of police obstruction, BNP staged demonstrations across the country on Sunday protesting the denial of permission to it for holding a rally at the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan, reports UNB.
The party brought out processions at different places in the capital and all other cities and district towns across the country to register their protest against the denial of permission for its scheduled rally marking the 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day'.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was supposed to address the rally.
At least 50 people were injured in a clash between police and BNP activists in Gazipur when a procession, led by BNP leader and city mayor MA Mannan, was brought as part of the party's central programme.
BNP joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan Central Office on Sunday afternoon alleged that BNP's demonstrations came under police attacks at different places across the country.
