Investors get quick service thru' CCAM
The securities regulator has settled 90 per cent complaints filed by investors in last six months through online complaint module. Investors lodged a total of 167 complaints through Customer Complaints Address Module (CCAM) during the period of January to June this year. Of 167 complaints, 90 per cent or 150 complaints were resolved by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). The settlements of remaining 17 complaints are in process. Page 9
S Korea floods claim 13 lives
South Korea's heavy rain, which lasted for four straight days, has left 13 people dead and 13 others missing as of Tuesday, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters. As of 10:30 a.m. local time, 13 people have been found dead and 13 others missing, with seven wounded because of the downpour that continued since Aug. 1 in the country's central region, including Seoul and the metropolitan area. Govt extends shopping time
The government has extended the business hours for shops and malls by one hour to 8:00 pm, while office hours during the coronavirus epidemic remain the same. The Cabinet Division issued an order on Monday to continue office work in the same manner until Aug 31 to prevent the spread of the contagion. Shops and malls, which were allowed to stay open until 7 pm earlier, can now operate until 8 pm. Page 17
Seasonal traders dump rawhide
The ill-fated seasonal leather traders in Chattogram dumped thousands of pieces of rawhide as they failed to sell the skins to permanent leather traders and wholesalers. The households that offered sacrificial cattle on Eid-ul-Azha sold skins to traders almost for free this year. Page 24
