Dhaka bourse closed the Monday's session marginally lower after seven sessions of continuous rise following mixed performance of major sectors. Insiders said investors opted to book profits offloading their holdings matured in previous sessions. S Korea, US fire missiles
South Korea and the US launched eight missiles on Monday, in response to a volley of ballistic missiles fired by North Korea the previous day. It comes as Pyongyang continues to escalate its missile tests. South Korea's president Yoon Suk-yeol said his government would respond sternly to any provocation from its northern neighbour. Brazil tests gm wheat
Brazil is testing a variety of drought resistant, genetically modified wheat in a bid to become more self-sufficient in the staple crop as global supplies tighten. The move is the latest sign of increasing interest worldwide in planting wheat that can withstand drought, as more extreme weather linked to climate change increases the risk of global famine. SMEs get one-third of required fund
The country's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) get access to only one-third of the fund they need for running businesses, while rural entrepreneurs receive only 19 per cent of the funds disbursed. This was revealed at a national workshop - 'Rethinking MSME Finance: A Post-Crisis Policy Agenda' - held at the Small and Medium Enterprise Foundation (SMEF) headquarters in the city's Agargaon area on Monday.
