MoU inked to begin trading of T-bonds

Stakeholders on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to commence trading of Treasury Bonds (T-bonds) aiming to activate the country's bond market. The representatives of Bangladesh Bank (BB), Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), DSE, CSE and CDBL signed the MoU at a programme held at the ministry of finance (MoF). Page 9

US trying to 'hijack' support in Asia

China's defense minister accused the United States on Sunday of trying to "hijack" the support of countries in the Asia-Pacific region to turn them against Beijing, saying Washington is seeking to advance its own interests "under the guise of multilateralism." High prices interest Japan wheat farmers

More Japanese farmers are planning to lower their rice production and switch to wheat and soybean this year amid rising grain prices caused by Russia's war in Ukraine, according to a government survey. Among Japan's 47 prefectures, 37 said as of the end of April that they will reduce cooking rice acreage from a year earlier. Page 19
