DSEX touches 6,600 mark
The benchmark equity index surpassed the 6600 mark on Monday, hitting a more than four-month high, as investors continued to inject fresh funds on selective large-cap stocks. Bangladesh women beat Ireland
Bangladesh women beat Ireland by 14 runs in their first match of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi on Sunday night. Bangladesh batted first after winning the toss and posted 143 for four in 20 overs. In reply, Ireland tumbled for 129 in 19.4 overs and lost the match by 14 runs. Nigar Sultana, the Bangladesh captain, led from the front scoring 67 off 53 balls. She hit 10 fours and one six. Opening batter Shamima Sultana also did well scoring 48 off 40 balls. Page 15
Logistics policy can make ports efficient
Speakers at a seminar on Monday suggested that the government make the port logistics system more efficient to lower cost of doing business and attract more investment in industries. To this effect, they called for framing a 'National Logistics Policy' in order to make the port logistics management more resourceful and organised. Page 20
BJA issues notice to follow its guidelines
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BJA) has recently issued a cautionary notice to the traders and customers concerned as part of its initiatives to ensure transparency and accountability in jewellery trade. The apex trade-body of local jewellers has requested the traders and sellers to follow its guidelines - issued to all the stakeholders at the beginning of this month, a statement said on Monday.
