Stocks flat as investors stay on sidelines

Dhaka bourse took a breather on Tuesday after the previous day's sharp decline in its benchmark index, as the investors' participation declined sharply. Major sectors performed mixed and the DSEX, the benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed volatility throughout the session. Cascading global crises have left 54 countries-home to more than half of the world's poorest people-in dire need of debt relief, the UN said Tuesday. In a new report, the United Nations Development Programme warned that dozens of developing nations were facing a rapidly deepening debt crisis and that "the risks of inaction are dire". Page 17

DCCI urges Iran to import jute goods

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) on Tuesday urged Iranian investors to import more jute and jute goods from Bangladesh to boost bilateral trade.
