Dhaka bourse edges up on gains of speculative stocks

Stocks edged up on Tuesday after choppy trading as investors continued their chase after junk stocks on rumours in anticipation of quick gains. Low-performing stocks are still favourites among a section of investors even though these securities are believed to be manipulated. Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has declared himself available for the first ODI against Afghanistan today, although not fully fit. Sanctions making Russia stronger: Putin

Russia will continue to oppose Western sanctions, President Vladimir Putin has said, following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. His address to a virtual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit was his first to an international meeting since last month's mutiny in Russia. Putin backed trade accords between SCO nations in local currencies - seen as an attempt to blunt sanctions. Page 18
