Licence of Cosmopolitan Finance scrapped for bringing no IPO in a decade
The securities regulator has scrapped the licence of Cosmopolitan Finance as the merchant bank failed to bring a single IPO since its inception in 2010. The sister concern of Summit Group also did not meet the obligation of opening at least five new portfolio accounts a year between 2013 and 2021. Meanwhile, more than two weeks after the BSEC had cancelled the licence, Cosmopolitan Finance appealed to the regulator to reconsider the decision. Page 9
Starmer set to become next UK PM
Dutiful, managerial, a bit dull - Keir Starmer is no one's idea of a firebrand politician. The Labour Party hopes that is just what Britain wants and needs after 14 turbulent years of Conservative rule. Starmer, the center-left party's 61-year-old leader, is the current favorite to win the country's July 4 election. Starmer has spent four years as opposition leader. Page 17

South Africa thrash Afghanistan to reach T20 World Cup final
South Africa demolished Afghanistan's T20 World Cup dream in ruthless fashion on Wednesday, thrashing the minnows by nine wickets with more than 11 overs to spare to reach the final of the cricket showpiece for the first time. Left-arm wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi (3 for 6) and gangling pacer Marco Jansen (3-16) spearheaded the rout of Afghanistan's brittle batting line-up for just 56 off 11.5 overs after they chose to bat.
