BSEC to launch CCAM tomorrow

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) will launch the Customer Complaint Address Module (CCAM) tomorrow (September 30). Using the system, the customers will be able to submit their complaints and receive solutions sitting in any part of the world. Page 9

First lot of hilsa sent to India

The first lot of 500 tonnes of hilsa fish was being sent to India through the Benapole Land Port on Saturday. Bangladesh stopped exporting hilsa to India in 2012 but recently allowed 500 tonnes of hilsa export to the neighbouring country on the occasion of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of Bengali Hindus. EU, Japan ink plan to bypass 'new Silk Road'

The EU and Japan have signed an infrastructure agreement to link Europe and Asia, as a counter to China's ambitious "Belt and Road" strategy. The deal is part of the bloc's "Asia connectivity" strategy, launched last year amid growing international concerns about Beijing's vast "new Silk Road", which is building railways, roads and ports being built across the globe using billions of dollars in Chinese loans. Request to create Tk 5.0b fund for jute sector

The jute ministry has requested the finance ministry to create an initial low-cost fund of Tk 5.0 billion out of the proposed Jute Sector Development Fund (JSDF) of Tk 100 billion. Many jute mills were closed due to becoming loan defaulter because of financial crises. Page 16
