Businessman shot dead in city

Unidentified miscreants gunned down a businessman in the city's Sayedabad area Tuesday morning. The dead was identified as M Ashiq (50), son of Lalu Mollah and also one of the owners of Anwar Hotel in Sayedabad. Witnesses said the assailants opened fire on Ashiq when he was coming to his hotel at about 9:30am, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Police suspected that he might have been killed following a previous enmity. A case was filed. — UNB
