CA orders immediate action against attackers

FE REPORT | December 13, 2025 00:00:00

Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus expresses deep concern over the daylight shooting on Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson for Inqilab Manch and a potential independent election candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, says a spokesman for the CA.

Hadi was seriously injured in the drive-by gun attack by assailants in the capital's Bijoynagar area on Friday afternoon, officials and witnesses said.

On a strongly worded note of warning, the head of post-uprising government says, "No form of violence aimed at disrupting the election will be tolerated. Ensuring the safety of the public and the free movement of candidates is our responsibility. Whoever the perpetrators are, they will be brought to justice."

He notes that such violent attacks in an election environment are completely unacceptable and a deeply regrettable blow to the country's peaceful political landscape.

The Chief Adviser instructs the authorities concerned to ensure the highest level of medical care for the injured Osman Hadi. He has also directed the Ministry of Health to closely monitor the entire treatment process.

At the same time, he issued strict orders for the law- enforcement agencies to conduct a prompt and extensive investigation, identify everyone involved in the attack, and bring them under the purview of the law.

He has ordered immediate action to collect evidence from the scene, gather eyewitness accounts, review CCTV footage, and uncover any organised plan behind the attack, if present.

The interim government's chief urges all political parties, activists, supporters, and citizens to maintain peace and restraint so that the upcoming general election can be held in a peaceful, participatory, and secure environment.
