Visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen Monday said his country is very much interested to increase bilateral trade with Bangladesh.
"To this effect, the two countries tomorrow (Tuesday) will sign an agreement to explore untapped trade relationships between the countries," he said.
The Cambodian prime minister was speaking at a dinner organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at a city hotel.
He said Cambodia is interested to build up multilateral trade framework under the LDC (least developed countries) status.
"The agreement will be on establishment of a joint commission for promoting bilateral cooperation, agreement for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investment, agreement on cultural cooperation," the premier told his audience.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said Bangladesh emphasises the importance of increasing people-to-people contact apart from seeking steps to ease visa restrictions for Bangladeshi nationals.
The agreement, which will be signed today, will cover protection of investments of the two countries, the setting up of joint working group to meet periodically on the bilateral issues, the premier informed.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, in his welcome address, urged the visiting premier to stimulate two previous agreements signed in 2006 and 2003.
