With just five days left for the curtain to fall on electioneering, the mayoral and councillor candidates and their supporters in the two Dhaka city corporations continued their hectic campaigns in different parts of the city on Tuesday begging votes, reports UNB.

The candidates along with their supporters carrying leaflets went to their voters in various lanes and localities to woo them to cast their votes in favour of their respective election symbols.

Ruling party-supported mayor aspirant for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq started his election campaign from the city's Kalachandpur area.

During the campaign, he condemned the attack on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's motorcade on Monday at Karawanbazar while she was campaigning in favour of her party-backed mayor candidate Tabith Awal.

Addressing the voters of Kalachandpur, he said, "Cast your votes considering who can actually work for you …you should also take into account candidates' eligibility by judging their past activities."

Seeking votes in favour of his electoral symbol 'Table Clock', he said, "I've successfully worked in diverse sectors, So, I think I'm better qualified than any other candidates for DNCC."

BNP-blessed mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Tabith Awal started his Tuesday's campaign from the city's Mirpur area.

At the beginning of the campaign, he poured water on the trees of road dividers and then swept the street for a while aiming to create social awareness.

He exchanged views with voters and asked for vote in favour of his electoral symbol 'Bus' in the Adabar and Shyamoli areas from 11:00 am to 1.30pm.

Afroza Abbas, wife of BNP-backed mayoral candidate Mirza Abbas for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls, launched the election campaign from Hossaini Dalan of the Lalbagh area around 10:00 am.

Another DNCC candidate Zonayed Saki, during his election campaign, alleged that a quarter is trying to spoil the election environment by obstructing the candidates during electioneering.

He also condemned the attack on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

He sought votes for him with 'Telescope' symbol at different parts of the city, including Badda, Kalachandpur, and Shahzadpur.

CPB-BSP-sponsored mayoral candidate for DNCC Abdulla Al Kafee started his electioneering from Sat Tola Bosti of Mohakhali. Later, he conducted his campaign in Mohakhali-Banani area and begged votes for his electoral symbol 'Elephant'.
