Among them, Lamia and Priya were guardians waiting to pick up their children when the jet crashed.

Meanwhile, another injured student, Mahtab Uddin Bhuiyan, 13, succumbed to his injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) on Thursday, raising the death toll from the tragedy to 33 -- most of them students.

Dr Nasir Uddin, director of the NIBPS, said Mahtab died around 1:50pm while undergoing treatment in the ICU. He had sustained 85 per cent burns.

Mahtab, a Class VII student at Milestone School, was the second of three siblings. His family hails from Debidwar upazila of Cumilla but currently resides in the Uttara area of Dhaka. His father is Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan.

With Mahtab's death, a total of 12 victims of the jet crash have now died while undergoing treatment at the burn institute.

As of Thursday, 57 people remain hospitalised with injuries sustained in the crash. Of them, 45 are being treated at the NIBPS, 11 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and one at Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital.

In a related development, three students and two guardians are still missing since Monday's crash. Milestone School and College Principal Mohammad Ziaul Alam disclosed the information in a statement issued on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Bangladesh Air Force FT-7 BGI fighter jet crashed during a routine training session between 1:12pm and 1:14pm on Monday, shortly after classes had ended at 1:00pm. Only a limited number of students were present at the time, waiting to be picked up.

The principal noted that the crash claimed the lives of 18 students, two teachers, and two guardians from the school branch. Also, 51 people were seriously injured, including 40 students, seven teachers, one guardian, one female attendant, and one office assistant.

On Tuesday, the school formed an internal investigation committee to look into the incident and is regularly updating records of those deceased, injured, or missing.
