Clash over train ticket leaves three dead

PABNA, Aug 1 (UNB): Three people were killed and 10 others injured in a clash between black marketers and ticket-seekers at Ishwardi bypass rail station in Lalpur upazila in Natore district Friday.

One of the deceased was identified as Rana while identities of two others could not be known immediately.

Witnesses said the clash broke out between ticket-seekers and black marketers following an altercation over colleting train tickets around 9 am.

Station master Ashraf Ali said two groups of ticket-seekers locked into a fierce clash when they were standing in queues for purchasing tickets, leaving two people dead on the spot and over 10 others injured.

Among the injured, Rana died at Ishwardi upazila health complex in neighbouring Pabna district, he said.

Station Master Ashraf Ali was among the injured.

One of the injured was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
