Corrigendum (27-01-2018)

The LankaBangla Finance Ltd issued a rejoinder to the news item published under the headline 'ACC sues former BASIC Bank, LankaBangla officials' on page 1 in the January 24, 2019 issue of The Financial Express.

In the news item it was inadvertently mentioned that Mr Faruk Ahmed Bhuiyan was a former LankaBangla Finance Ltd official.

Actually, Mr Faruk Ahmed Bhuiyan, who is now working as Vice-President of LankaBangla Finance Limited, was sued, among others, on charge of embezzlement for his engagement as a former advance officer of BASIC Bank Limited, Gulshan branch.

The rejoinder issued by the Managing Director (Current Charge) of LankaBangla Finance Limited Khurshed Alam said: "…LankaBangla Finance Limited is no way a party to the mentioned irregularities and had/ has no relationship with the persons named in the report".

"Mr Faruk Ahmed Bhuiyan joined the LankaBangla Finance Limited on April 01, 2013 and the management of LankaBangla Finance Limited was not aware about his involvement in the said irregularities," it added.

The LankaBangla Finance Limited has no relation with the irregularities mentioned in the published news and the management of the company was not aware about his involvement with the said irregularities.

The inadvertent mistake is regretted.
