Covid-19 claims 25 more lives

Covid-19 claimed 25 more lives in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours ending at 8:00 am on Monday, raising the death toll to 5,966.

Besides, 1,736 people were infected with the coronavirus during the period, bringing the total positive cases to 410,988, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a statement.

A total of 12,891 samples were tested during the period, the statement added.

The DGHS so far reported the fatality rate at 1.45 per cent, new cases at 17.40 per cent and recovery rate at 79.78 per cent.

Some 1,961 patients also recovered from Covid-19 during the reporting period which took the total number of recoveries to 327,901.

Of new victims, 20 were male and five were female. Of them, 15 were aged over 60 years while six were between 51-60 years, two were between 41-50 years and two others were between 31-40 years.

Dhaka division reported 15 deaths, Chattorgram three, Rajshahi one, Khulna one, Sylhet three and Rangpur division one death.

Currently, 113 laboratories are conducting the Covid-19 test in the country.

Bangladesh is currently the 20th hardest-hit country in the world, according to the data available with the worldometer.com, an information portal.

The deadly virus so far claimed 1.20 million lives and infected 46.96 million people across the globe.
