Thirty two more people died from Covid-19 infection and 1,436 tested positive in the 24-hour period until Wednesday morning.
With these, the total number of fatalities and cases reached 5,251 and 3,63,479 respectively in the country since March, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS, in a daily statement, also said it registered 1.44 per cent fatality rate, 18.66 per cent positive cases, and 75.79 per cent recovery rate.
Some 13,155 were collected and 13,404 tests were done in the 24 hours, the DGHS said, adding that a total of 19,47,655 samples have been tested in the last eight months.
Of the newly deceased, 24 were male and eight were female. Most of them or 24 people were aged over 60 years, three 51-60 years, three 41-50 years, and the remaining two were 31-40 years of age.
The disease claimed 24 lives in Dhaka division in the reporting period, two in Chattogram, four in Rajshahi, and one in each of Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions.
All but one victim died in hospitals, said the DGHS statement, signed by its Additional Director General Dr Nasima Sultana.
Some 1,789 people recuperated from the disease in the period, enhancing the total figure to 2,75,487.
Some 43,177 and 15,057 individuals have been kept in quarantine and isolation respectively in an effort to limit spread of the virus.
Currently 108 laboratories across the country are conducting Covid-19 tests.
The DGHS also said 261, out of 554 intensive care unit (ICU) beds in the hospitals across the country, remained unoccupied in the period under review.
The first Covid-19 patient was detected in the country on March 8, and the first death from the infectious disease was reported on March 18.
Bangladesh is currently the third badly-affected nation in Asia following India and Iran, and 15th among all nations, according to information portal Worldometer.
Over 30.88 million people have been tested positive with the novel coronavirus, and 1.01 million individuals succumbed to death until Wednesday.
