The number of new cases and deaths from the coronavirus declined in the country on Saturday with comparatively a less number of samples being tested during the last 24 hours.
A total of 1,320 people tested positive for coronavirus on the day after testing a total of 11,532 samples, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Some 11,209 samples were collected during the last 24 hours, said the release.
On the other hand, a total of 1,604 people were found Covid-19 positive after testing 14,141 samples on Friday.
The number of fatalities from the coronavirus was also lower on Saturday with the DGHS reporting 18 deaths during the past 24 hours' reporting period. Of them, 12 were male and 6 were female.
With new deaths, the toll reached 5,923 since the Covid-19 was detected in Bangladesh in March this year.
The rate of fatalities, however, remained almost static at 1.45 per cent while the recovery rate slightly increased to 79.51 per cent on the day from 77.67 per cent just two weeks back, the official data revealed.
A total of 1,576 people recovered from the Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, according to the press release.
The rate of detection was 11.45 per cent as per the samples tested during the last 24 hours, it mentioned.
According to the official data, a total of 407,684 people have so far been infected with Covid-19 while 324,145 of them recovered from the deadly disease.
