Covid claims seven lives

Seven people died from Covid-19 and 199 new virus cases were reported during the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Sunday.
However, zero fatality and 178 cases were recorded on Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 27,953 since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020.
A total of 17,153 samples were tested, including antigen tests, during the last 24-hour reporting time, while 17,074 samples were collected during the period.
The Covid-19 test positivity rate inched down further to 1.16 per cent on the day, slightly down from 1.18 per cent.
On the other hand, a total of 192 people recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time, said the DGHS in its press release.
The rate of recovery was 97.72 per cent on the day, it added.
The rate of fatalities from coronavirus disease remained static at 1.78 per cent.
According to the official data, the total Covid-19 cases crossed 1.57 million in Bangladesh, and of them, more than 1.538 million had recovered from the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, more than 10.72 million samples were tested until Sunday since March last year.
