Covid-19 infection rate dropped further to 2.36 per cent in Bangladesh on Sunday with the health authorities reporting 481 new virus cases.
The infection rates were 2.77 per cent and 2.45 per cent on Friday and Saturday respectively, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
On the other hand, the daily death toll from Covid was reported at 14 during the past 24 hours until 8:00 am on Sunday, declining from the previous day's 20.
The death tally due to the viral attack rose to 27,688.
With the latest count, a DGHS press release says, total fatalities have reached 27,688 since the virus was first detected in the country in March 2020.
DGHS figures showed 20,355 samples, including antigen-based rapid ones, were tested countrywide during the period and 481 people were tested positive.
A total of 699 people recovered from Covid-19 during the 24-hour reporting time.
The rate of recovery from the deadly disease remained almost unchanged at 97.53 per cent, disclosed the DGHS.
With the latest infection, a total of 1,562,359 people have so far been tested Covid-positive in the country while some 1,523,833 of them recovered from the disease.
