Customs seize Tk 55m gold at HSIA


Dhaka Customs seized 11 kilograms of gold worth Tk 55 million from a Japanese national at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) early Saturday. Tipped off, a preventive team of Dhaka Customs challenged the Japanese national named Kengo Shibata while he was passing through the green channel of the airport, said assistant commissioner of customs Sydul Islam. He said after scanning and searching his body, the team found 11 gold bars weighing one kg each. The market price of the gold is around Tk 55 million. The passenger came to Dhaka aboard a Regent Airways flight from Singapore at around 12:40am. — FE Report
