Dengue: 7 more die

Seven more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the country to 846 this year.

Besides, 3027 people were also hospitalised with the disease including 843 in Dhaka city and 2,178 in other regions.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the figures in its daily bulletin.

Currently 10,102 people are hospitalised including 3814 in the capital city and 6,288 across the country.

People aged between 16 and 30 years are mostly infected with the mosquito-borne disease in the country, the official statistics revealed.

Around 61 per cent of all the patients are male and 39 per cent are female.

Dhaka division excluding the capital city reported 694 cases of hospitalisation, while Mymensingh reported 65, Chattogram 450, Khulna 371, Rajshahi 191, Rangpur 59 and Sylhet reported seven cases.

The dengue situation in the country has been worsening since July when 43,854 patients were hospitalised following 71,976 in August and 49,987 in September.

September saw 253 deaths so far. A total of 342 deaths were reported in August and 204 deaths in July.
