Fourteen more people died of dengue across the country, including five from Dhaka, in 24 hours to Saturday morning, raising the death toll to 804 this year.
Meanwhile, 2,598 hospitalisations were also recorded during the same period across the country, including 881 from Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The ever-worsening dengue situation showed no sign of improvement with the growing deaths and cases. The health authorities also continued to report a growing number of new cases outside Dhaka.
DGHS reported 1,717 new cases of hospitalisation outside Dhaka.
Last year, 281 people died of the mosquito-borne disease, the second highest in the history of the country.
Meanwhile, the total dengue cases rose to 164,562. Of the total cases, 72,384 were from Dhaka, added DGHS. Of the total patients in Dhaka, 41,680 were male and 72,384 female.
A total of 10,330 people were being treated in hospitals across the country. Of them, 4,208 were from Dhaka. Of the total admitted, 153,428 patients recovered and returned home, including 67,624 in Dhaka.
