Dengue death toll in Dhaka crosses 400

Eleven more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Saturday morning, of them eight from Dhaka.

With the additional deaths, the casualties rose to 548, including 404 from Dhaka.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,327 patients got admitted during the same period across the country, including 920 from Dhaka.

The ever-worsening situation of the mosquito-borne disease showed no sign of improvement with the growing deaths and cases.

Of the hospitalised patients, the number of death toll is so far estimated around 0.5 per cent, according to the report.

The health authorities also continued to report a growing number of new cases from outside Dhaka.

DGHS reported 1,407 new cases of hospitalisation outside Dhaka.

Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.

Meanwhile, the total dengue cases rose to 114,511, including 54,409 from Dhaka.

A total of 8,299 people, including 3,945 were from Dhaka, were being treated in the hospitals across the country.

Of the total admitted, 105,664 patients recovered and returned home, including 50,060 from Dhaka.
