Dengue death toll nears 500 since Jan

The government registered 8 more deaths due to mosquito borne dengue fever, including 5 from Dhaka, in 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
With the new casualties, the death toll stood at 493 in dengue fever, including 366 from Dhaka.
Meanwhile, 2,168 hospitalizations were also recorded during the same period across the country, including 842 from Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The ever worsening dengue situation continues to deteriorate in other cities as the health authorities continue to record a growing number of new cases.
The dengue hospitalization continues to rise outside Dhaka as the DGHS reported 1,326 cases outside Dhaka.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
Meanwhile, the total dengue cases rose to 104,359. Of the total cases, 50,170 were from Dhaka, added DGHS.
A total of 7,829 people were being treated across the country in hospitals. Of them, 3,570 were from Dhaka. Of the total admitted, 96,037 patients made recovery and returned home, and of the total, half of the recovery made from Dhaka, 46,234 in number.
