Dengue situation seen improving

The recent update on the dengue fever in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning shows a slight improvement in the situation.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the death toll has increased by only four, with one reported in Dhaka during this period.
With these additional fatalities, the total casualties have reached 1543, including 899 in Dhaka.
Comparatively, there were 11 deaths in the 24-hour period from Thursday morning, eight in the 24 hours since Wednesday morning, and 24 the day before.
In the same timeframe, DGHS recorded 914 cases of hospitalization nationwide, with 204 of these cases reported in Dhaka.
This year's reported cases of dengue in Bangladesh are on the verge of surpassing the 300,000 mark, marking the most severe outbreak of the disease on record.
As of Saturday, the total number of reported dengue cases has reached 299,964, with Dhaka accounting for 105,288 cases, according to DGHS.
During the same period, 914 hospitalisations were recorded across the country, with 204 of them in Dhaka, as reported by DGHS.
Health authorities are witnessing an increase in new cases outside of Dhaka, with DGHS reporting 710 new hospitalisations in these areas.
The report estimates that the mortality rate among hospitalised patients is approximately 0.5 per cent.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
Currently, there are 5,186 patients receiving treatment in hospitals across the country, with 1,307 of them in Dhaka. Of the total number of patients admitted, 293,235 have recovered and returned home, including 103,082 from Dhaka.
