Dhaka stocks rose more than one per cent Wednesday, as healthy buying on banking and energy issues spurred the benchmark index to a fresh high.
The market started the day with a strong note, leading the benchmark DSE General Index (DGEN) to reach nearly 8700-mark within one hour of the trading.
At the end of the day, it shot up by 1.38 per cent or 118.08 points to close at a new high of 8672.90, beating the previous all-time high of 8598.17 recorded just four days back.
The broader All Shares Price Index (DSI) gained 1.30 per cent or 92.98 points to reach 7200.31. The DSE-20 Index comprising blue chips rose sharply 1.37 per cent or 69.50 points to 5126.10.
