Dhaka Phone launches operation in city

Dhaka Phone, a private land phone company, announced Sunday the launching of its network expansion in the capital.
Speaking at a press conference, A.T.M. Hayatuzzaman Khan, the chairman of Dhaka Phone, said his company, which is now operating in Naryanganj, Narsinghdi, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Bogra, will be offering its services in the capital.
The Dhaka Phone has about 17,900 subscribers in those districts. "We are hopeful of getting more than 25,000 new customers in the capital before Eid festival. By that time the network expansion of the operator will be completed," Khan said.
Replying to a question, he said the company might float 50 per cent of the shares in the stock market in future.
"We are offering competitive call rates and connection charges to attract customers," he said, answering another question.
Managing Director, Abul Hashem Khan, and directors, Mustafa Rafiqul Islam, Mohammad Selim, MA Jalil and Moinul Islam, of Dhaka Phone, among others, were present at the press conference held at the national press club.
For the residents of Dhaka facilities like local, NWD, ISD phone call, call transfer, call forwarding, call barring will be made available to every Dhaka Phone connection, Dhaka Phone director Mustafa Rafiqul Islam said.
Besides, he said, the phone connection is facilitated with high-tech CDM 1X FIXED WIRELESS telephone set by which connection from the capital to the countryside will be easier.
