FE Report
Dhaka stocks drifted slightly lower Wednesday after gaining in two straight sessions.
The benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE)--DSE General Index (DGEN)--shed 8.34 points or 0.33 per cent to close at 2519.82, after posting the early gain of 15 points.
The decline was led by banks, fuel and power sector issues and insurance companies.
The banking stocks retreated after gain the previous day despite the news that corporate tax cut for the banks in the upcoming budget is under review.
The gain in prices of the service and real estate issues, most of the non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) and mutual funds failed to offset the losses in most of the sectors.
