DU holds 45th convocation today

The 45th convocation of Dhaka University (DU) will be held Saturday. Some 9,058 graduates with 4349 males and 4709 females, will receive certificates at the function. President Md Zillur Rahman, also chancellor of the university, is expected to be the chief guest at the convocation to be held on the DU playground. Three eminent personalities -- Nobel laureate Prof Yuan T Lee of Genomic Research Centre in Taiwan, former student of DU and inventor of Sono Arsenic Filter Prof Abul Hussam and Historian Prof Ranajit Guha-- will be given honorary doctorate degree on the occasion. Prof Yuan T Lee will be the convocation speaker.
