EC threatens legal action as 205,000 register twice

The Election Commission (EC) has threatened to take legal action against those involved in voter fraud after 205,000 voters with photographs were found to have registered twice. The commission also warned all officials to stay on the alert against any double counting or re-registration. The dual registrations were detected by an automated fingerprint identification system. The EC Secretariat has also ordered Noakhali registration officers to file cases against two locals from Hatia Upazila who attempted to register twice by providing false information. — bdnews24.com
