The Election Commission (EC), led by AMM Nasir Uddin, will release its roadmap for the 13th general election next week, reports bdnews24.com.
EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed confirmed the timeframe on Thursday.
He said the roadmap would contain a deadline-driven plan for election-related activities.
"We have discussed the EC's roadmap. Hopefully, we will be able to release it next week. This will give you an idea of our preparations," said Akhtar.
Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus had previously stated in an address to the nation that the 13th general election will be held in the first half of February 2026, before the start of Ramadan.
The EC has also said it will announce the schedule 50 to 60 days ahead of polling, which is expected to be the first half of December.
The practice of releasing a roadmap began before the 9th polls, with the then-EC publishing one in 2007-2008 to outline progress.
The most recent roadmap was issued in September 2022, one and a half years before the 12th general elections.
The current EC is maintaining this tradition.
The upcoming roadmap will include a list of preparations both before and after the schedule announcement, such as updating the voter list, defining constituencies, registering political parties, amending electoral laws, purchasing equipment, holding dialogues with parties and stakeholders, providing training, printing materials, conducting law and order meetings, and meeting with election officials.
