The government has decided to reopen all educational institutions on Sunday and resume HSC and equivalent examinations on September 11. The institutions had been closed for about a month, report agencies.
The Ministry of Education issued a notification signed by Rahim Aktar, deputy secretary of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division under the ministry, in this regard on Thursday afternoon.
The decision to reopen educational institutions was taken following a directive from the interim government's Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, it says.
All authorities concerned have been asked to take necessary measures to resume academic activities, the notification said.
Schools, colleges and madrasas were declared shut for an indefinite period when violence spread centering the student-led quota reform movement across the country in mid-July.
Primary schools across the country resume academic activities on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the postponed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will resume on September 11.
A notification signed by Professor Md Abul Bashar, the convener of the inter-education board examination control committee and controller of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, was issued in this regard Thursday.
The new schedule was published on the Dhaka Education Board website.
Earlier, the HSC and equivalent exams, which were initially postponed due to violence surrounding quota reform protests, had been rescheduled to resume on August 11.
Meanwhile, the HSC and equivalent exams began on June 30.
