Eid-ul-Azha on June 7

All are agog for the fiesta as Eid-ul-Azha, the second- biggest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated across the country on June 7 (Saturday).
The decision was made earlier at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation on May 28 with Religious Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain in the chair.
The main Eid Jamaat (congregation) for Eid-ul-Azha in Dhaka will be held at the National Eidgah at 7:30 am on Saturday, June 7th, according to a government handout.
In case of inclement weather, the congregation venue will be shifted to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:00 am.
The Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will also host five Eid jamaats at 7:00 am, 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 10:00 am, and 10:45 am respectively on the day. However, the festival will be observed in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
Eid ul-Azha, known as the 'Festival of Sacrifice,' is one of the most important in the Muslim calendar. The festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son when God ordered him to.
The occasion is observed with special prayers, the ritual sacrifice of animals, and the distribution of meat to the poor and underprivileged.
Authorities have called on citizens to celebrate the festival with sincere religious devotion and a sense of discipline.
